James Sylvester

This ten-year-old Grade 5 student of The Montessori Centre has been a dancer with the St. Lucia School of Ballet and Modern Dance since January 2018.  He is an accomplished and self-confident young dancer, who has excelled in his RAD ballet exams from Pre-Primary to Grade 4. Together with his Grade 4 RAD ballet exam, James also passed a Grade 4 Solo Performance Award with distinction. In 2018, James was awarded the Auberge Seraphine Student of the Year Award from Mrs. Theresa Collymore.

Always happy and cheerful with a million-dollar smile, James is a very disciplined and focused child with a true passion for dancing. His first participation in a large production was the St. Lucia School of Ballet’s Greatest Story Ever Told.  Apart from his class piece he was also invited to dance a trio piece (The Gift) in the production. For fun, he has taken part in two Christmas dance productions from Motion Studios (Aladdin 2018 and Moana 2019), where he performed solo pieces.  One of these he presented at the National Dance Festival in April 2019.

In June 2020, he was invited to participate in a series of “St. Lucia” videos from the accomplished pianist, composer and producer Fabio D’Andrea.  These videos were shot on location in St. Lucia and we understand will be released by Fabio later this year.

Aside from dancing, James is also an accomplished competitive swimmer with his club The Seajays.  As a national swimmer he has represented his country at the OECS Swim Championships in Antigua (2018) and St. Vincent (2019). Unfortunately, due to Covid competitive swimming, in country and regionally, has been curtailed, but he has continued to train hard, for when this resumes.
