The St. Lucia School of Ballet and Modern Dance is thrilled to announce the expansion of its performing arts curriculum, introducing official Musical Theatre classes created by the prestigious Royal Academy of Dance (RAD).

This exciting development follows specialized professional training in Toronto, Canada, where school leadership recently attended the Royal Academy of Dance Canada's in-person Musical Theatre Introductory Training Continuing Professional Development (CPD) course from July 29 to July 31, 2026. The immersive certification course culminated in the presentation of a commemorative plaque to the RAD Canada faculty, marking a proud milestone for the school's ongoing dedication to global educational standards.

The new classes offer young people ages 6–18 access to high-quality, safe training in singing, dancing, and acting, providing them with essential life skills such as confidence, teamwork, and creativity.

Led by an RAD Registered Teacher, Mrs. Theresa Lowrie Collymore, the curriculum features choreography from industry luminaries including Susan Stroman, Warren Carlyle, Matt Cole, and Stephen Mear. In addition to developing practical performance skills, students will gain a rich theoretical knowledge of musical theatre history and have access to structured graded assessments.

“We are so proud to bring this world-class syllabus home to St. Lucia,” said Theresa Lowrie-Collymore. “Offering these classes means our students have direct access to safe, elite-level training that bridges dance, vocal work, and acting, opening up incredible creative horizons for our young people.”
